Length or Distance
Length is a measure of the longest extent of an object (anything) as measured from end to end. Distance is a measure of how far apart objects are. In physics or everyday discussion, length is synonymous with distance. The SI unit of length is the meter (m). Other commonly used units of length are the centimeter (cm), the kilometer (km), the inch (in), the foot (ft) and the yard (yd).

When measuring much longer distances such as those in astronomy, commonly used units of length are the astronomical unit (AU) and the light-year. When measuring much smaller distances such as those on the microscopic scale in chemistry, commonly used units of length are the micron (µ) and the Ångström (Å).

Length is a one-dimensional measure, while area is a two-dimensional measure (length squared) and volume is a three-dimensional measure (length cubed).

Just for fun, what is the length of the Earth's circumference at the equator in Ångström (Å)?

Do you know?
How round is the Earth?
The Earth is round, and we know that. However, the Earth is not a perfect sphere. The length of the Earth's circumference at the equator is 40,075 km, while its circumference from pole to pole is 40,008 km - a bit shorter.
